Rachel Fleming

Rachel holds an MA in Human Rights Law from SOAS, University of London. Originally from the highlands of Scotland, she spent a decade working in Southeast Asia, including six years as the Advocacy Director at the Chin Human Rights Organisation.

She has travelled extensively to research issues affecting people in Chin State, including to Mizoram and Delhi in India, the Cameron Highlands and Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, and within Chin State itself.

Rachel’s research interests include the indigenous rights framework, access to education, forced assimilation, forced labour, freedom of religion or belief, gender-based violence, transitional justice, intersectional feminism and post-colonial theory.
